Vital Alert

Our Company

Vital Alert Communication Inc. is a Canadian company headquartered in a suburb of Toronto, Ontario, and incorporated in 2002.  We have a U.S. subsidiary, Vital Alert Technologies, Inc., in Cleveland.  We hold the exclusive global license on the patent held by Los Alamos National Laboratories on through-the-earth communications, for mining and urban applications.  The company is backed by a leading Canadian wealth management firm and private investors.

We build products which enable emergency and day-to-day communications in some of the most difficult communications environments in the world - tunnels, sewer pipes, subways, mines, buildings, and fire rescue, to name a few.  Our CanaryTalk mine and tunnel radios use very low frequency (2-4 kHZ) electromagnetic waves to wirelessly enable 2 way voice, data, and text communications in underground and other shielded environments.  Because of the inherent limitations of such low frequency signals, both range (600 feet) and bandwidth (1-4 voice calls per system) are limited.  However, in the event of an emergency, our product often represents a more survivable option than existing leaky feeder systems.  It can also be more rapidly and cost-effectively deployed than a wired leaky feeder system or complex wireless mesh network.

We stay close to our customers to clearly understand the problems they are trying to solve, and we persist (some would say we're stubborn) in solving some of the most difficult technical challenges in the communications realm.  Please contact us today if we can help with your underground communications needs.
